Of the four “Major” Golf Championships, none can boast the history, grandeur and sheer majesty of the 147 year-old, British Open. This is golf’s undisputed event of the year; a celebration of golfing excellence and the ultimate examination of the game’s most accomplished players, each battling for international glory over the world’s most challenging layouts.
Ranked # 15 among the Top 100 Golf Courses of the World, Northern Ireland’s Royal Portrush’s Dunluce Links remains the only course on the entire Emerald Isle to have ever hosted golf’s oldest and most prestigious tournament, The British Open.
The honor will be repeated in 2019, some 68 years after its original 1951 hosting, when the very best of the best will compete for what has become the world championship of golf. Royal Portrush will present its unique links challenges, with thrills and spills aplenty all but guaranteed along the way. Originally laid out in 1888 by Old Tom Morris, the great Harry S Colt made a dramatic redesign of the original in 1932, bringing it to full Championship status and 18-holes. Often referred to as the greatest golf architect ever, Royal Portrush’s Dunluce Links is considered by many to be Colts crowning design achievement.
2019 will be Golf International’s 31st consecutive year of operating British Open escorted tours and custom British Open packages, making us the most experienced British Open specialist in the business, so take advantage of our expertise.
